We’re looking for huddlers
Independent4Flinders is reliant on a groundswell of support from members of the communities located in the Flinders federal electorate.
We have developed neighbourhood huddles to involve as many people as possible in their local areas in finding a candidate for the next federal election, and in order to build a strong community of support for the independent movement.
Why Huddles?
Groups that are active in their local areas have unique ways of connecting with others in their communities – through family members, social groups, workplaces, community organisations, and businesses.
Building a strong, widespread support base will assist I4F with finding the right candidate from amongst our midst. People we may not have previously considered likely to want to enter politics could be the people we interact with every day or week. They need to know there is huge interest in having an option other than the two major parties to vote for.
Joining a neighbourhood huddle is a great way to make new friends and acquaintances and to discover other ways of becoming involved in our local communities. Many will decide to become involved in the I4F candidate’s campaign when it begins.

What do Huddles do?
There is no prescription, it’s up to the groups that form to decide what they can do, and how much they can do. The aim is to build support, find a candidate, spread the word about the community independent movement, and have volunteers ready to campaign for the I4F endorsed candidate when the election is called.
Some suggestions from huddles that are already active:
Write regular letters on local issues to the MP News;
Distribute flyers wherever they will have an impact – in shopping centres, at markets, at community group get-togethers and meetings;
Set up a market stall and talk to people, ask them what are the issues they care about;
Hold social gatherings – coffee chats, evening drinks, walks on the beach and invite some friends;
Organise events – film nights, guest speakers, pizza nights, trivia nights;
